I can also learn through a good book, and while I agree the Quickstart manual is great, being new to production I'd like something that talked about how you use the functionality to create music, as well as what buttons you press (hence I quite like VTC's background). Why not Acid Pro? Acid Pro 7 is a good, deep program containing a wide array of diverse and useful tools. The newly released Vegas Pro 9 comes with *COMPREHENSIVE training*.

ACID Pro 7 software also includes over 3,000 Sony Sound Series loops and 1,000 MIDI files so you can start. Music software for Mac or Windows to create audio with up to 128 audio tracks. The basic tutorial videos available online at > training are merely scattered excerpts taken from the Acid Pro 6 training, and they refer to reference material that is unavailable to me.
The promotional blurb for the Acid Pro 7 "Seminar Series" DVD states clearly that it contains information regarding only the *NEW* version 7 features.
